Description

La Parrilla is a large scale, low-cost, long life Tungsten and Tin Mine.

The project has an Australasian Joint Ore Reserves Committee (“JORC”) compliant resources total 49 million tonnes (“mt”) at a grade of 998 parts per million (“ppm”) tungsten trioxide (“WO3“) and JORC compliant reserves of 29.8mt at a diluted grade of 931ppm WO3. The site is accessed directly from the highway along a 3km asphalt road and is serviced by electricity and water. Importantly, the mine is located within a short trucking distance from both the Atlantic and Mediterranean ports.

Extracted Materials

The La Parrilla deposits contain primary sulphides such as galena, sphalerite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, covellite, acanthite, native silver, and silver sulphosalts (tetrahedrite–freibergite solid solution).

Antropological info

The circuit, W Resources confirmed, was engineered to minimise fines and will process about 350t per hour. Both the jaw crusher and secondary cone crusher are equipped with vibrating grizzlies prior to size reduction and two tertiary cone crushers in closed circuit with a double-deck banana screen.

Additionally, the circuit was designed for modular expansion to 700t/h without modifications to the installed infrastructure. It is currently configured to feed X-ray ore sorting going forward.

The conclusion of work on the facility, supplied by Metso Minerals Portugal, "paves the way" for commissioning of mined ore at La Parrilla next month, officials said.

Sociologal info

There are Mariachis who came in from the street and played for us after specifying there was a charge of $80 pesos per song, which we paid. They were good but there was a larger group of mariachis who came in later, who apparently are regulars at this restaurant, and they were much better and did not specify how much we needed to pay before playing. At least we learned that the amount to tip a mariachi band is about $2 per musician in the group. The service is very good here, as could be expected from one of the oldest restaurants in Cancun - otherwise they would not still be in business. The food is classic Mexican and grilled meats (Parilla means grill).

Archaeological info

Production at La Parrilla commenced with the new plant in November 2019, moving to 24-hour operation in late December 2019. Tungsten and tin production will build substantially throughout 2020 in the ramp-up phase, to mine 2 mtpa of Run of Mine and produce approximately 2,700 tonnes of tungsten concentrate and 500t of tin concentrate per annum.
