Report

IO1 Report will raise the beneficiaries' awareness about the cultural, natural, landscape, anthropological endowment and potential locked in their post-mining areas. It aims to lead them through the how to- and what to- basics when faced the daunting challenge of offsetting the conversion and revitalisation process of a former industrial brown-field community. Reseach-action development labs will be the forum where development opportunities and threats will be debated.

SOCIAL

Because of its underlying bottom-up, IO1 and IO3 is expected to:

  1. heigthen democratisation via civic participation in general;
  2. specifically pull down the participation barrier in ways seen in best practices such as the unique 30-year long volunteer actions leading to the listing of Corwall and Dorset industrial complexes as UNESCO World Heritage sites;
  3. counter dirigistic, centralised, miopic policy-making, often insensitive to the specific values peculiar to local potentials and values.

PROCESS

A degree of experimentation is expected from place-based, horizontal, community lcoal development approach as this has only been formalised by the Italian government in 2018 and awaits formalisation in the remaining Partner countries (Spain and Poland).

EXPECTED IMPACT AND TRANSFERIBILITY POTENTIAL

The extension of the participatory base and therefore of its impact and transferibility potential is a direct function of the Community Led Local Development which the Partnership envisions.
